When you hear the phrase “Golden era of Art,” what comes to mind?
Maybe the Renaissance masters in Italy? Ancient Indian temple sculptures? Or perhaps the great poets and painters of your own culture?
History tells us that art flourishes most during times of prosperity and cultural confidence. But let me ask you, do you think we are living in a golden era right now?
Take a moment to reflect.
On your phone or laptop, you can see the works of thousands of artists across the world in just a few clicks.
A student can learn to paint from a teacher halfway across the globe (maybe you already have!).
Street art, digital installations, NFTs, films, music all coexist in ways that were unthinkable even 20 years ago.
Isn’t that extraordinary?
Of course, there’s another side. With so much content flooding our screens, it’s easy to feel lost. Which of today’s creations will be remembered 200 years from now? Which ones will define our time?
Here’s where I’d love to involve you:
Think of one piece of art painting, film, song, or even digital work that truly moved you in recent years.
Would you say that piece reflects the spirit of our times? If yes, then maybe you’ve already spotted a glimpse of this era’s golden light.
Golden eras are not always obvious in the present. People living during the Renaissance didn’t wake up saying, “We’re in a golden age!” They were simply creating, responding to their world, and leaving behind works that carried timeless beauty.
Perhaps that’s what we are doing today too. Each of us, whether we are artists, art lovers, or supporters, is contributing to what future generations may call a golden era.
So here’s my question to you:
If we are in a golden era of art, what role are you playing in it, are you the creator, the supporter, or the storyteller?
Because in the end, golden eras aren’t just inherited. They are built by us, together.
